Playtime 20.25 Bruge

By Ward Dehairs, March 12, 2025

During Playtime 20.25, Cultuurcentrum Brugge will once again transform the Royal Municipal Theatre into a giant, digital game hall. Step inside and discover more than 50 games from independent developers, innovative VR experiences, and international installations. This year, the focus is on connection and inclusion. Gaming is often seen as an individual experience, but more and more games are designed to connect people. This can be found in the VR experience of the artist duo Robbert & Frank and the project of artist and game developer Claire Kwong. On the occasion of International Women's Day, there will be a special focus on female gamers on Saturday 8 March, with a panel discussion and the Girls Make Games project. With Playtime 20.25, gaming, art and society are once again mentioned in the same breath, leading to unprecedented experiences. See you there!

I received an invite to attend and present Diode Arena during this event as part of an installation for local indie games, which of course I accepted.

Overall the event went well, I have a new huge list of QOL improvements which should make the game easier for new players. I also got a few interesting contacts from local game devs and people from the industry. Unfortunately the audience was mostly a bit too young for the game, although a few people had a lot of fun, mainly with the building.
